It's been busy. Should I leave it at that?

Carried Awaaaay!

So, I have big dreams. Well, I guess you could call them dreams if I was able to sleep. Which I would be able to do if I didn't have scrapbooking papers, designs, textures, and elements running through my head whenever I'm still for a moment...so many ideas, and not enough time to make them come true!

So last night, as I was trying to banish scrapping thoughts and invite sleepy ones, I got some ideas. I haven't been able to make them turn out like they are looking in my head, which is a pity. But I'm working on them, so wait and see. But when I gave up on sleepy thoughts last night and found myself at the computer opening Photoshop again (I think I might be taking this addiction a little to far...), I tried and tried to make what in my head show up on the computer. so during these experiments, I came up with some cool stuff that also happens to match Love Actually... so I thought I'd share, even though I haven't quite gotten the final product down. It'll be way cute, I'm thinking. But I guess you'll just have to wait and see--and make do with these two papers!

You will have to let me know what you think. It's one of those things where I think I like them...most of them...but am iffy on a few parts. Like that big brown, over-grunged stripe? Might be a little much. What do you think? Drop me a line and help me make stuff you like better, eh? =D (Click on the Pic to download them).

Excitement is Mounting...

I'm done! Yes, my friends--no stressing this out till the last minute. I have finished my part of the Valentines kit. I wish I could post the links--I have them all ready to go. I hate waiting almost as much as you do! But that wouldn't be sporting. I have to wait until the 7th. I might be able to be bribed--let's see whatcha got.

But seriously, this is going to be an impressive kit--and you thought Whimsical Wonderland was good! Since we're all going to be posting this on the same day, I do need to warn you of something. We are all living on different parts of the globe. We are going to try our best to get our links up at around the same time: 8am EST. Dealing with time zones is kind of messy though--that's 6am my time and I have no idea what time that is in Australia!!! So we could definitely use your patience. If it's going to really ruin your day if my links are up and someone else's aren't, pretend I told you we're posting it on the 8th or the 9th. Then you can get all the links at once, hassle free. Everyone has promised to keep their links up for a long long time (most will be there forever!) so there's no need for anyones undies to wind up in a twist.

I can't wait to see you all bright and early on the 7th (or the 8th or 9th =P)

Just distracted!

But WHAT am I distracted by, you ask?

By the new collab kit we're working on, what else? As you've probably heard, there's a Valentine's Day kit in the works. And it's official--we are releasing it on February 7th, so there's plenty of time for you to download before the big day. This time we won't be playing the one-fix-a-day game. No, prepare to be overwhelmed by all of the parts to this kit at once!!! It's going to be phenomenal.

I feel like I've improved so much during this kit--I'm soooo excited for you to see my part. I guess we'll see if I can work out some sort of peak, or goodie, or something.

Christmas Kicked My TRASH!

You know how, in October, those great do-it-yourself gifts from the heart sound like such a great idea? And then I never start them until a couple of weeks before Christmas. By the time Christmas rolls around I've stayed up for two nights straight and all my hair has been pulled in frustration!

Yep. That's what it was like this year.

Not to mention the rest of my life: new calling at church, singing a solo in sacrament meeting, having to be fair to both in-law families and remodeling the house...it's been one of THOSE months. So I'd like to apologize for my neglect. The only time I've spent online for the past...I can't even remember how long was playing World of Warcraft with my husband (that was his Christmas present--ME getting the game to play with him--more on that later I'm sure) because he's actually got a break from work and school and I'm enjoying it while I can.

But the muse hit the other night, and I've been working on this wordart pair ever since. I don't think these are finished. I'm not sure if I will ever be able to get what's in my head onto this screen though, so I finally said ENOUGH ALREADY! And I would be glad for suggestions! =) My dream is much more hand-drawn watercolor-ish. So I've decided I need a tablet. But I suppose you and I will both have to make do until that dream is fulfilled.

For any out there that are curious about my Christmas project of hugeness (I'm just a wee bit proud and DYING to share), I will show you.

My family loves to play "Nertz." But we don't really like regular face cards so much, so we've picked up a habit of trying to find non-face cards. Whenever we go on vacation, we pick up a deck if we can find one (well, Mom buys a bunch anyways) and we get it in our stocking that Christmas. This year's was from our trip to Jamestown.

But what if I could make our very OWN decks of cards with pictures of us on them? So I researched, found a place online that would sell me the cardstock--glossy and pre-perforated and set to work. By that I mean, I ordered the paper, card boxes, and glossy protective spray. And then waited several months to actually do the hard part.

Setting up the template was fun--I have a secret passion for InDesign. Popping my little family's pictures in was great--I had all of them on my computer already. Deciding what to write as captions was surprisingly time consuming for me. I wanted this project to act as a mini scrapbook, and I agonized on making every caption and picture perfect.

Then came the others in my family--I didn't have digital pictures of my brother, sisters, parents, and me going way back--so I turned to my scanner. When I married my husband, I got one of those cool million-in-one printer, scanner, fax, copy, iron your shirt (I wish) machines. he got it fro really cheap on Ebay because it was a floor model. Unfortunately, we had never noticed that the scanner bed is pretty hashed. SO after several hours of hunting and scanning, we (my DH helped me so much) had to start over--fixing the stripe down the middle of the pictures would take longer than actually re-scanning. PLUS, I was working with a lot of color copies from my scrapbook, so I needed higher resolution than our printer could handle. Anyways, after millions of hours and a full all-nighter, I had my parents' and unmarried siblings' files done.

The printing of the files and getting my married sister's files finished (she was in on it, so she got to do her own =D) turned out to be a little stressful--I was planning on using my own printer, but it couldn't grip the glossy stock, so we had to take it to the professionals--who naturally don't keep all-nighter hours like I needed.

But it's okay. No worries. We got them done and they actually turned out pretty good! There were some that printed a little crooked, but we decided not to stress it. So there. Anyways, it was probably more fun seeing my family looking at all the pictures and re-living those memories than it was to actually PLAY with the cards! So I highly recommend the project--but I warn you it takes longer than you think it will!

Cuz really, I don't want to erase what I've written to put the new links up--I just can't do it. So I'm going to copy it down here. If you've already read it, you don't have to read it again. But this is so I don't hurt too bad deleting it in that top post! =P

This is my first freebie EVER. And it's going out now!!! I'm so excited and nervous!!! I've spent FOREVER packaging and organizing and finishing up. What a process! My respect grows more every day for people who do this all the time! Which will hopefully be me very soon. I have a FABULOUS freebie in the works--something I've never seen done anywhere digitally, so I'm pretty excited. Stay tuned.

Goodness!!!

Can I just tell you this is a hard game to play? First, stressing over every little detail of every little piece of every little element. Then, making sure everything is all put together right. Then, making sure the links work. THEN worrying about scrapping wolves who aren't happy no matter what (even though this kit is free and the links are staying up forever)! Thanks to everyone who is supportive of this endeavor!

If I may give my feelings on comments:
I've been there people. Downloading 60+ folders can be time consuming enough without leaving a comment on every single one! =) I'm not going to beg you to "leave me some love," and guilt you into leaving me a "Thanks." Would I absolutely ADORE 3 million thanks on my blog or 4Shared account? OF COURSE!!! So if you want to say thanks, go for it. I will love you forever. Especially if you live far away from me, cuz that's just cool that you even cared enough to stop by.

But I know that when I leave comments, it's because I absolutely LOVE the download, and I have something particular that I love about it. SO even better comments are ones that tell me WHY you love my contribution. I'll take the fact that you even downloaded it and added it to your rapidly filling hard drive as a sign that it was okay. I'll take comments that actually tell me what you liked as gems to treasure! =D

And the best of all, is when you tell me what you WOULD have liked better. I'm not talking about those (you know, the ones who aren't even reading my post...) who offer hurtful comments without offering solutions. I can take, "Hey, this part was blurry and that bugs me, could you clean it up?" no problem! It makes me better at making freebies, and gives you better freebies. Everyone wins. "Hey, your designs stink worse than my brother's year-old gym socks" is going to have the opposite effect. Who wants to put themselves out again after something like that?

So all I ask is this--if you don't like my stuff after you unzip it, throw it away. Then move on to someone whose stuff you like and use theirs. No problem. If you REALLY like something, go ahead and give me a holler. If you have a question for me, shoot me an e-mail at ARscrappingaddiction at gmail. (If you like stuff I did and would like to see different colors, sizes, etc. I'll see if I can work it in--if you're nice ;)

Okay. I'll put the soapbox away. Come to think of it, after spending so much time on the Whimsical Wonderland kit, I'd do better using it to clean my house! I'll get on that.

My First Scrapping Post!

Well *hello* everyone!!! Welcome to my scrapping blog! This is where I plan on posting some freebies and asking for constructive criticism on my layouts and designing play. Most of you are probably here wondering about the digi-scrap freebie of awesomeness that you've heard about over at Ellie's Sugar Snap Scraps. I can't even tell you how much fun I am having over there! We're pretty much going to have the biggest, most fantastical, gorgeous kit you've ever seen in your life. SO stay tuned!

Now I warn you, I am very NEW. I love Photoshop and have used it for a long long time, but I have only started actually digiscrapping and designing very recently...like, practically yesterday. Although I've been collecting freebies for quite a while now! You could pretty much say I'm ADDICTED, (thus my blog title). I am a very busy SAHM to a 4-month-old darling boy that you will be seeing a lot of I am sure. He also means I won't have oodles of time to devote to my computer. So I unfortunately won't be posting stuff every day... but that will just up the suspense, right? Right.

Anywho, welcome to my blog, be excited for our kit, and I will see you all shortly!
